Snapdragons seeds «Ruby»

Dragon flowers or snapdragons red / Antirrhinum - a showy and hardy annual. Pyramidal bushes are dotted with large wine-colored flowers, which look very festive in racemose inflorescences up to 30 cm in length. A pleasant honey aroma, unpretentiousness to the soil and flowering until frost make this crop universal. Interestingly, snapdragon flowers take up to 12 days to bloom and remain fresh in a vase for the same amount of time.

Description:

• bush height 60-80 cm;
• scarlet flowers, 6 cm in diameter;
• from July to October up to 35-40 buds appear on one peduncle.

The red snapdragon is perhaps the most popular annual plant in our area after marigolds and petunias. It is traditionally placed in the third or fourth tier of a flower arrangement next to cosmos, sage, marine lobularia, alyssum, zinnias or along the fence. It is a good idea to decorate your entire yard with other varieties of this wonderful plant.

Features of growing and caring for snapdragons:

• snapdragons are planted in open ground in May, seedlings are planted in February-March in a mixture of turf, sand and black soil;
• sow in boxes, sprinkled with a small amount of soil, cover with film, moisten with a spray bottle and wait for germination after 7-10 days at a temperature of +20-24 degrees;
• seedlings gradually harden by removing the cover and then removing it altogether;
• in the phase of 2 leaves, they are picked at a distance of 2x2 cm, and after a couple of weeks the central shoot is pinched;
• transplanted into a flowerbed, maintaining a distance of 25 cm between the “lion cubs”;
• loves the sun and nutritious soil, needs watering, weeding and loosening;
• Overwintering snapdragons is possible if you dig them up with the roots for the winter and place them on the site again in the spring.
