Buddleja davidii (spelling variant Buddleia davidii), also called summer lilac, butterfly-bush, or orange eye - it is a shrub up to 2 m high, with widely spreading branches drooping at the ends. The leaves are oval-lanceolate to lanceolate, pointed at the ends, dark green above, white or yellow tomentose-pubescent below, up to 25 cm long.
The flowers are lilac-violet with a honey aroma, up to 1.5 cm, in dense erect or slightly drooping spike-shaped inflorescences up to 40 cm long. Blooms annually and profusely from July to September.
