Foxglove woolly «Sulchanka» / Digitalis lanata Ehrh.

Action and application

The pharmacological and clinical effects of foxglove are very well studied. In therapeutic doses, digitalis glycosides generally regulate the disturbed activity of the heart. Digitalis preparations are prescribed for circulatory disorders due to heart failure, mainly in cases of right ventricular failure (edema, enlarged liver, accelerated heart rate, increased venous pressure, low blood pressure) with myocardial damage. With left ventricular failure, these drugs act on systole and help restore normal blood circulation.

In order to dose digitalis preparations, you need to familiarize yourself with the special literature on its use. In some manifestations of chronic heart failure in the clinic, it is preferable to use glycosides from the leaves of digitalis woolly, especially digilanide C, mainly due to its weak cumulative action. Treatment with digitalis and its preparations should be carried out only as directed and under the supervision of a physician.
