Hairy nightshade or woolly nightshade or red nightshade / Solanum villosum
This is an annual herbaceous plant, reaching a height of 70 cm, slightly hairy. The leaves are ovate, up to 8 cm long, 3.6 cm wide, entire or shallowly lobed, with petioles 4.5 cm long. Inflorescences - 3-8 flowers, collected in a cluster. The whisk is white.
Pale globular orange-red berries, 5-9 mm in diameter. Seeds from 1.7 to 2.3 mm.
Unripe berries are not recommended (no more than 5 per day). But with yellow nightshade it turns out very tasty and healthy jam! (During heat treatment, solanine splits). While the leaves of this plant are often smoked, usually as a legal cannabis substitute, we definitely DO NOT recommend this practice.
