Calabash «Kalebasa»
Used for making souvenirs and dishes. The fruits are long cylinders (up to 1 m), which hang down. However, the standard sizes are 40-60 cm. The vine itself, with good support, grows up to 15 m. Since the seeds have a very hard peel, they must be soaked in water before planting.
The variety is demanding on light and moisture, and the growing season is about 150-180 days.
Also known as bottle gourd, white-flowered gourd, long melon, birdhouse gourd, New Guinea bean, New Guinea butter bean, Tasmania bean, and opo squash.
