Hosta (mix) or hostas, plantain lilies - is an ornamental perennial plant that is bred mainly for its beautiful leaves. They form a large bush and retain their decorative effect throughout the growing season. Basal leaves are numerous, form a dense basal rosette, different in color - green, bluish-gray, variegated oval-pointed leaves are especially spectacular.

Use the host to create borders, single and group plantings on lawns, edges and near ponds. The leaves are widely used in bouquets and arrangements. Seeds are sown before winter in open ground, in boxes: they are laid out on the surface of the substrate and sprinkled with a thin layer of compost without crushing it. Seedlings will appear in spring and should be watered regularly.

You can sow the seeds in the spring for seedlings in a box. Before putting in a warm place, a box with sown and moistened seeds should be kept in the refrigerator for 1-3 months, this contributes to friendly shoots. Seedlings are protected from direct sun and moderately watered, periodically fed and sprayed on the leaves. After 4-6 weeks after germination, seedlings gain 2-3 leaves, and they can be planted in separate pots.

Seedlings in the second year are seated on the beds. Good bushes from seedlings will form in the 4th - 5th year. They prefer a semi-shaded position with protection from the wind.
