Ipomoea japonica «Scarlet O'hara» - this is an annual climbing plant, 2-4 m high. The flowers are large, funnel-shaped, dark red with purple stripes, open only during the day; in cloudy weather they close at night.
It is grown by sowing seeds in open ground in April-May after the threat of night frosts has passed. Flowering begins in July and lasts until frost. It is used for vertical gardening of balconies, gazebos, terraces and for creating hedges.
