Shingle oak seeds / Quercus imbricaria - is a deciduous tree up to 30 m tall. Straight trunk with a pyramidal crown. Dark green glossy narrow oval leaves with rich autumn color. Fruits: single acorns, up to 2 cm long.
The tree grows up to 20 m tall, the trunk diameter is up to 1 m (rarely 1.4 m), differs from most other oaks in its leaves, which are shaped like bay leaves, 8-20 cm long and 1.5-7.5 cm wide, slightly pubescent below. The fruits are single acorns, 9-18 mm long, mature about 18 months after pollination, and are an important food for squirrels and birds.
