Dragon flowers or snapdragons «White» / Antirrhinum - is a charming annual. Snow-white flowers on pyramidal bushes are somewhat reminiscent of the open mouth of the King of Beasts. The subtle aroma of pollen will complement the fragrant symphony of the garden, and the universal color will “fit” into any space. Snapdragon does not require special care, is distinguished by its vitality, as well as a long flowering period.
Main characteristics:
- bush 70-90 cm;
- white flowers up to 6 cm, collected inflorescences up to 25-30 cm;
- snapdragon leaves are small, lanceolate;
- blooms from June to October.
White snapdragon is used for landscaping ridges, mixed borders in combination with marigolds, ageratum, zinnia and alyssum. Traditionally it is placed in the background of a complex composition or along a fence.
Growing snapdragon from seeds:
- Snapdragons are planted in open ground in May, and seedlings are planted in March-April;
- seeding depth is 1 cm, the seeds are lightly sprinkled with earth, covered with polyethylene, provided with diffused sunlight and a temperature of +20-23 degrees;
- shoots will appear in about 7-10 days, the coating should be removed immediately;
- dive into peat pots in the phase of 2 leaves, and with the appearance of 5-6 leaves, pinch the bush for splendor;
- they are planted in a permanent place at the end of May, adhering to a 20x30 cm pattern;
- prefers illuminated areas and fertile soils;
- watering, weeding and loosening are needed;
- resistant to diseases and cold down to -3 degrees.
