Sour peat (high moor) - it is a unique biological material with special properties and even structure. It is an organic compound that was formed during the decomposition of humus and plants. The product is formed under conditions of oxygen deficiency and high humidity.
The most valuable is the substrate in which sphagnum plant components are present. Acidity (PH) 3.0 - 3.5 pH The main purpose of acidic peat is to improve the chemical and physical characteristics of the soil.
Organic material helps to increase the nutritional value, air permeability of the soil, and correct its microbiological state. High moor peat is added to the soil with mineral and organic elements (organic extracts, bird droppings, pus and other fertilizers).
Application: Before using the material, it must be carefully loosened and kept in this state for 2 weeks. It is recommended to sift the substrate through a metal mesh, the cells of which correspond to the size of the fraction itself. Loosening acidic peat is maintained at a temperature of 17 to 20 degrees, constantly watering it.
The prepared material is laid in a thin and maximally even layer, while it is placed in specialized containers (pots or special cassettes), due to which the process of looking after young seedlings is simplified many times, oxygen access to the root system is provided. The most popular is sphagnum peat, taking into account the special moisture capacity and porous structure. In some cases, peat substrate is obtained with perlite inclusions.
This composition provides an optimal level of water-air regime for the root system of the plant. High-moor sphagnum peat differs from traditional soil dressings in its ability to wonderfully pass air, while the root system is saturated with oxygen in sufficient volume. Note that it is not prone to microbiological decomposition, siltation, due to which peat can be used for a long time.
