Broadleaf arugula - a spicy-flavored crop. The period from germination to harvest of greens is 20–25 days. The plant forms a small bush 15–20 cm tall. Leaves are green with a nutty-mustard taste. Grown year-round indoors.
Arugula is a cold-resistant annual plant that prefers sunny or slightly shaded areas with loose, fertile soil. In autumn, the soil is dug with the addition of humus and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. In spring — loosening, leveling the surface, sowing in open ground at a temperature of +8…+10 °C. Seeds are sown in furrows 1–1.5 cm deep, with row spacing of 15–30 cm.
Care includes regular loosening, weeding, moderate watering — especially in dry weather to avoid bitterness in the leaves. Fertilizing is done with organic or complex fertilizers. Harvesting of greens begins 20–25 days after germination, before flowering starts. For continuous yield, sowing is repeated every 2–3 weeks. The plant bolts quickly, so it is important to harvest the leaves on time.
