Bean seeds «Christmas Lima»

The “Christmas Lima” bean originates from the United States, where it has been known since the 19th century as a traditional variety. In Ukraine it is cultivated as an exotic crop that combines ornamental appeal with high nutritional value.

Exotic mid-season bean variety (80-95 days). The seeds are large, flat, oval, with a distinctive light cream-white background and maroon or black spots forming a marbled pattern. Pods are medium in length, light green, and contain several large seeds.

The plant has a semi-bushy growth habit, reaching about 60–70 cm in height. It is a mid-season variety, well adapted to different climates, and produces a stable yield. It is grown both for culinary purposes and for decorative use.

When cooked, the beans develop a tender, creamy texture and a flavor reminiscent of chestnuts. For this reason, the variety is often called “Chestnut Lima.” It is used in soups, stews, salads, and can serve as a meat substitute.

This variety is notable for its high nutritional value, rich in protein and fiber, and its unusual appearance makes it popular in collectors’ selections and among gourmets.
