Description

Kalimag (potassium-magnesium fertilizer) - kalimagnesia composition includes potassium, magnesium and sulfur in the form of sulfates. The fertilizer kalimagnesia has high solubility and is quickly absorbed by plants. The fertilizer Kalimag has a low chlorine content (max. 3 percent). Thus, it is an ideal source of potassium, magnesium and sulfur for plants sensitive to salt and chlorine, such as fruits, vegetables, grapes, hops, potatoes, sunflower and forest trees.

Kalimag is effective on all types of soils, regardless of pH. On light soils, the fertilizer kalimagnesia should be applied in spring to avoid potential loss of nutrients during winter. The use of kalimagnesia is also possible for use in organic farming systems.

Composition of the fertilizer kalimagnesia:

  • water-soluble potassium (K2O) 45%.
  • water-soluble magnesium (MgO) 6.5%.

Potassium in Kalimag increases plant immunity. Crops become more resistant to diseases, pest and fungal damage, and tolerate frosts more easily. Fruit ripening accelerates, yield and fruiting period significantly increase.

Magnesium is the most important trace element responsible for energy production by the plant organism. When it is deficient, the root system of plants suffers first. From ultraviolet rays of sunlight and water, plants synthesize sugar, which subsequently is responsible for the structure and accumulation of carbohydrates, for example, starch and cellulose. That is precisely why magnesium is so important for potatoes, legumes and cereal crops.

Magnesium deficiency is unnoticeable for a long time. It can be determined by the condition of old, lower leaves, which prematurely yellow and curl.

It is harder to determine the lack by young foliage, since it is in young growth that this trace element is concentrated. Magnesium is responsible for transporting nutrients. When it is deficient, the root system becomes suppressed. The plant develops poorly, absorbs moisture worse, and this reduces drought resistance and can lead to sunburn.

Sulfur enhances metabolism, is responsible for restorative processes in any living organisms, promotes nitrogen assimilation and protein formation. Cruciferous plants, for example, cabbage and turnip, consume a large amount of sulfur during the growing season, since they are vegetable crops with a high protein content.

Sulfur starvation resembles nitrogen deficiency in its signs. Plants develop worse, look weak, leaves become small, and petioles and shoots become woody to the touch. The color of the leaves becomes faded. It is possible to distinguish nitrogen and sulfur starvation by only one sign. With sulfur deficiency, the vegetative mass does not die off; with nitrogen deficiency, leaf fall is observed. The use of kalimagnesia helps solve the problems of deficiency of three elements.

Application rates depend on where the kalimagnesia fertilizer will be used. On heavy soils, it can be applied in autumn; on light sandy and sandy loam soils, during the starting digging in spring. Kalimag is used in autumn for the main application, and also in spring for cultivation and root feeding.

Autumn application rates are up to 200 g per 10 square meters; spring application rates are not more than 100 g per 10 square meters; rates for hotbeds and greenhouses are up to 50 g per 10 square meters.

Feeding with kalimagnesia during summer is often carried out as a solution. It can also be applied during loosening into moist soil. For local application, the dosage of the double salt must be reduced by half.

For root application and foliar feeding on leaves, the same composition is prepared: 20 g per 10 liters of water. For plantings on 1 hundred square meters, only 5 liters of solution will be needed for spraying.

Grapes respond positively to potassium. Without this trace element, grape berries will be sour, and the vineyard itself may not survive the winter. Usually potassium sulfate is used, but when there is a magnesium deficiency in the soil, it is better to use kalimagnesia for grapes. The substrate is used as the main fertilizer and for feeding.

In autumn and spring, standard rates are applied according to the instructions. In the case when the main feeding could not be applied, the problem of trace element deficiency can be solved by spraying. In total, three sprayings will be needed during the ripening of berries with the basic composition of 20 g per 10 liters with an interval of 3 weeks.

Precautions: when applying, wear gloves and observe hygiene rules. The effect of the fertilizer is especially effective for crops whose productive part is vegetative mass and root crops: for cabbage, green vegetables, beets, carrots, radishes, parsley, celery, and for all fodder crops, as well as on meadows and pastures, thanks to the beneficial action of potassium and magnesium.
