Desert false indigo seeds

Desert false indigo or false indigo-bush, and bastard indigobush / Amorpha fruticosa L. - the name comes from the Greek. "amorphos" - "shapeless", which is due to the atypical structure of the flowers. This is a perennial ornamental shrub that reaches a height of 1.5-2 meters. Belongs to the legume family.

Ornamental shrub with a wide crown, about 2.5 m high. A fast-growing, sun-loving shrub, with wide openwork leaves of bright green color. The flowers of the amorphous shrub are small, fragrant, purple or dark cherry with bright golden stamens, collected in dense spike-shaped inflorescences. Located at the ends of the shoots and directed upwards.

Amorpha belongs to the legume family, and legumes are known to enrich the soil with nitrogen. Another very useful property of amorph is that it has a powerful and deep root system, as a result of which it is recommended for fixing steep slopes of gullies and ravines. It is valued as a highly ornamental shrub, widely used in landscaping parks, forest parks, creating hedges and group plantings.

Excellent pollen and good honey plant. Bees actively visit the flowers throughout the day to collect pollen and nectar. During its flowering on the plantations there is a buzz from bees. The abundance of nectar in its flowers is shown by the behavior of foraging bees.

Sitting on the inflorescences, they so fill the honey stomachs with nectar that they hardly return to the hives. Among the foraging bees, about half were with a bright orange trim. Judging by the number of bees returning to the hives with amorphous pollen, in the initial period of flowering, it certainly dominates among other honey plants and pollen plants in terms of attendance.
