Elecampane tall «Gulliver» or horse-heal or elfdock / Inula helenium L. - is a perennial herbaceous plant. The raw material is air-dry rhizomes and roots. They contain up to 3% essential oil and 44% polysaccharides. It is used as an expectorant, as well as a diuretic, choleretic and anti-inflammatory agent.
Elecampane stimulates appetite, improves digestion (especially with low acidity of gastric juice), regulates the secretory function of the stomach and intestines and stimulates the overall metabolism in the body.
In addition, elecampane is a diuretic, diaphoretic, astringent, antihelminthic, expectorant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and sedative.
It treats metabolic disorders, helps relieve inflammation in the joints - with rheumatism, gout, arthritis, inflammation of the sciatic nerve, lumbago, is used in the complex treatment of anemia. Elecampane also has bile-forming and choleretic properties.
